Gram taught me to knit when I was 8 years old. Made a scarf for my doll that night. I can remember the pride in Gram’s voice when she said, “I should have had her cast on more stitches!”

Now I knit socks. I have tried to interest myself in other things, but then figure…why? Oh, occasionally I will do some gloves or a sweater, or something else will catch my eye. Lately I have been playing around with some lace projects. But pretty much it is socks. I find them endlessly fascinating in that I can try many different patterns and yarns and not devote the time for a sweater or blanket.

I am truly enjoying the designing side of the knitting experience. I can get up at 4:00 in the morning if I come up with an idea I would like to try. And there are not many things that will get me up that early! I’m hoping that other people will enjoy using my patterns half as much as I enjoyed creating them.
