Lara Kimbrell
I am a “50 something” Texas Aggie! Whoop! I have a degree in physics and I love to knit and cook. I have 4 kids who prove that God has a sense of humor. While I am a science/math/logic-person, He gave me a child who has the soul of an artist!
I’ve spent years in physics and nanotech research (worked on the Mars Sojourner Rover and did helped develop nanoscale crystals now used in Quantum Dot technology). Now I run a Real Estate Private Equity company. I love to make things. I’ve built a hover craft and a Dobsonian telescope from scratch, so yarn accessories are a snap. Next on my list is to set up my own space where I can dye yarn.
As far as designing patterns goes, I am just beginning my journey. I love the aspect of knitting that is mathematical and predictable. Putting together my first sock pattern was like solving a puzzle. Choosing the right stitches, patterns, and repeats to fit the sock size and requirements of a pattern and having it work out is a terrific feeling. Hopefully I will be doing more in the near future. (In my own hand-dyed sock yarn!)
Peace, Love, and Knitting!
