Knitting needles and yarn have been an essential part of my life since childhood. I always had my knitting with me—whether traveling or relaxing on the couch at home. I’ve knitted countless pairs of socks on countless train rides. Eventually, I moved on to sweaters and cardigans, creating more and more of my own designs. For me, developing new knitting patterns beautifully combines two of my hobbies: drawing and knitting. Designing new colorwork charts puts me in a state of flow and brings me immense joy. Bringing the design to life through the actual knitting presents new challenges: How should I incorporate the pattern? Would a different technique work better? That is how I work my way toward the finished pattern. My wonderful test knitters share their perspectives, sometimes sparking entirely new ideas or spotting errors that had slipped in.
