Tria Fata Fibre Arts
Update: Due to moving overseas, the brand is closed as of 2016
I love both colour and working with my hands, so the fibre arts have become a natural extension of these two passions. And as an extension of my passion for the fibre arts, I created my business, Tria Fata Fibre Arts, in August 2012.
The Tria Fata (Three Fates) are the Roman personifications of destiny: the three fates who control the metaphorical thread of life. Much the metaphorical seamstresses, Nona spins the thread of life, Decima measures the thread of life, and Morta cuts the thread of life. As each individual’s fate become twined with others’, the fates become interwoven to create the fabric of life. Tria Fata recognizes that some things are self-evident, yet seeks to design beyond what is traditionally “fated”. Ultimately, I seek to make Tria Fata inspired by mythos; a merging of historical stories, cultural identities, and personal experience. As New Zealand is at the heart of Tria Fata’s mythos, I seek to use NZ-made yarn and wool products as much as possible.
