Herringbone Tunic — Mini Herringbone Yoke with Fluffy Alpaca Body
I wanted to knit a blouse, so I came up with this design. The yoke is worked in a mini herringbone stitch, then stitches are picked up and knitted with enough gathering to flow into the bodice, which is worked in the round with a fluffy alpaca-blend yarn. Both yarns are from Hamanaka — an homage to the Hamanaka yarn shop that my mother once owned. I also incorporated some gratitude for her into this white garment. I hope you enjoy its fluttery transparency.
This tunic is worked from the top-down. The yoke is worked flat, then stitches are picked up and knit for the neckband and plackets. After separating the body and sleeves, the body is worked in the round to the hem, then sleeves are worked in the round to the cuff.
