Pattern Description from Knit.1, Spring/Summer 2009: “Double knitting’s making noise these days. Schlueter’s mohair scarf - in popular ‘Kidsilk Haze’ from Rowan/Westminster Fibers - features a double-knit reversible pattern that takes a k1 in one shade, a p1 in a contrast color, and flips the order on the return row.”

Stuff:

  • 1 ball each in #581 Meadow (A) and #582 Trance (B) of Kidsilk Haze by Rowan/Westminster Fibers, Inc., .88oz/25g balls, each approx 227yds/208m (superkid mohair/silk)
  • One pair size 8 (5mm) knitting needles or size to get the gauge

Measurements: Approximately 6”/15cm wide and 66”/167.5cm long

Notes:

  1. If you are not familiar with the technique of double knitting, work a swatch in a heavier weight of scrap yarn before starting.
  2. Every row is worked with 1 strand of both colors. Begin every row by bringing the yarn used for the first st underneath the other strand of yarn to join the edges.
  3. When knitting, both yarns must be brought to the back of the work; when purling, both yarns must be brought to the front of the work.
