126. Patchwork Baby Blanket
Instructions for you to knit this very practical, textured baby blanket for your little one.
This design has been inspired by my daughter to celebrate the birth of her son, Ernie, born in October 2025.
The blanket is knitted in a total of 6 strips, which are sewn together afterwards, and it features an applied I-cord edging. There is a link to a YouTube video in the pattern, in case you are not familiar with I-cords.
To knit this blanket, you need to be able to knit, purl, pick up stitches and knit 2 stitches together through the back of the loop.
Materials needed to knit this patchwork baby blanket are as follows:
100g ball each of DK yarn in 10 colours all with a standard tension of 22sts and 28 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch on 4mm needles. You will also need 1 x pr 4mm needles and a pair of double pointed 4mm needles.
The finished measurement is approximately 36” x 36” (92 x 92cm)
For illustration purposes, we have used Hayfield Bonus DK.
Our blanket used a total of 53g of each colour ball for the squares. This is an ideal stash-busting pattern!
