Each of the four pieces of Epstein’s poncho is worked in stripes that feature a dark gray string-of-pearls pattern in the center of each stripe. the seam edge increases out with stitches bound off on the last row of each stripe, creating the center stairsteps. After seaming, stitches are picked up around the collar, lower edge of the body and armholes and a garter stitch border is worked. Plymouth Yarns’ Galway Worsted makes this layering piece extra-cozy.
