Purtscher’s cowl begins from a provisional cast on and is worked in one of her signature tuck-stitch patterns, which resembles traditional cables.

To finish the cowl, open cast-on stitches are grafted with the last row using Kitchener stitch. Single purl stitches are worked on the right side of the stockinette-stitch panel to mark the place to pick up several rows below, thus creating the rhomboid tuck stitch. The stitches are shown to great advantage in Blue Sky Fibers’ springy, plush Bulky alpaca/wool.
