This stitch pattern reminded me of the wooden palisade and gates of the government fort built here in Calgary in 1875. The red is reminiscent of the red serge outfits that the Northwest Mounted Police wore at that time.

Estelle Alpaca Merino Chunky 125 m / 100 g (136 yds / 3.5 oz), 3-4 balls. Colour Q62203 Red. Any currently available Chunky (#5) yarn with similar yardage may be substituted.

Needles - US 10 (6 mm) circular, 56cm /22” long, or size needed to obtain gauge

Notions - Stitch markers, tapestry needle
