I love leaves! This reversible edging pattern from 24 January 1890 Fitzroy City Press newspaper in Australia starts with 11 stitches and has 12 rows. The pattern is repetitive – in a good way! All the odd rows start the same and all the even rows except row 12 start the same. I corrected an error and changed the selvage stitch for easier sewing later. This edging can be blocked straight or curved. The sample is 2.25 inches at its widest at gauge.

Skills needed: cast on, slip purl-wise, knit, purl, yarn over, yarn over twice, k2tog and bind off in knit stitch.

Gauge is not important in this pattern. Any block-able thread/yarn will work. Make a swatch to check size and appearance.

8 yards of #10 crochet cotton thread will make about 2.8 inches or 36 rows in the stated gauge.
