Pattern description from Knit.1, Fall 2007: “Your friend in marching band who has to wear that polyester cape on game days? She’s gonna be jealous when she spies your gorgeous thigh-grazing topper, knit in one piece in variegated “Waterlily” by Classic Elite Yarns. Joan Forgione put a cabled motif on the front and buttoned on separately stitched I-cord closures.“

Stuff:

  • 18 (23) balls in #1927 Bramble of Vaterlily by Classic Elite Yarns, 1¾oz/50g balls, each approx 100yd/91m (extrafine merino wool)
  • One each size 8 (5mm) circular needles, 24”/60cm and 32”/80cm length or size to get the gauge
  • Two size 8 (5mm) double-pointed needles (dpns)
  • One size H-8 (5mm) crochet hook
  • Cable needle (cn), stitch markers, eight ½“/12.5mm buttons & four sets of hook/eye closures
