This pattern can be found in issue two of Nomadic Knits, which is available as a digital download (click the e-book link above).

What better way to shelter yourself from the cold than with a snuggly cowl knit in soft chunky yarn? Large cables create an interesting pattern, both to wear and to knit. Knit in a large rectangle with short rows to widen the bottom, the cowl can then be grafted together or joined using a three needle bind off. Thick yarn and large needles
make this a quick knit; perfect for a gift or as a palette cleanser between larger projects.

Size: 1 (2, 3, 4).
Finished measurements: 10.5”/ 26.5cm wide x 21 (24, 27, 30)”/ 52.5 (60, 67.5, 75)cm circumference. Shown in Size 1.

Needles: US 11/8.0mm or size to obtain gauge straight or circular, plus one additional needle if working the optional 3-needle bind off.

Gauge: 1 cable repeat is 4”/10cm wide, as measured on Row 3 or 9, and 3”/7.5cm tall.

Yarn: chunky weight: 190 (220, 255, 290) yards/ 174 (202, 234, 265) meters.

Notions: scrap yarn in chunky weight for Provisional cast on, cable needle, tapestry needle.

Sample knit in: 7th Floor Yarn Bulky (80% superwash Merino, 20% Nylon; 76 yards per 100g) in Salted Caramel.
