Last year I had definite feelings about commemorating 2020. This year, I’m super ambivalent.

Turns out, all my besties are feeling the same way. So, I thought I’d share a pattern again, in case you’re feeling this way too.

I used a smaller gauge this time to get a few more stitches into the same-sized sweater. So I recommended sport weight yarn. But, seriously, feel free to use whatever’s close in your stash--anywhere from fingering to DK weight. Size queens be aware: heavier-weight yarn and/or larger gauge will make the ornaments larger. ;)

For the main color, I held a light-fingering yarn double to get a sport weight. For the contrasting colors, though, I did use the DK-weight yarn from last year, and it worked fine.

Here’s a summary of the yarn usage:

Amount for EACH ornament:
Main Color: 45 yds / 12 g
Contrast Color: 8 yds / 2 g

Amount for ALL THREE ornaments:
Main Color: 135 yds / 36 g
Contrast Color 1: 8 yds / 2 g
Contrast Color 2: 8 yds / 2 g
Contrast Color 3: 8 yds / 2 g

So, beautiful knitters, I sincerely hope your 2021 was better than 2020 and wish you happy holidays and all the best for 2022.
