I grew up in the north of England on the cold and rugged coast, and everyone I knew had a fisherman’s sweater. They were so common, I had no idea how special they were. I learned to knit when I was 5, and by the time I was 8 I was proficient in the common stitches I saw around me. To this day, my favorite stitch is double moss stitch, which I chose for the greater part of my pullover. Inspired by the recent book I wrote on entrelac knitting, I wanted to explore the effect created when tradi-tional motifs are repeated in an interlacing pattern.” — Rosemary Drysdale

Loose in structure, Drysdale’s royal-blue pullover places an entrelac panel of alternating Aran patterns front and center. It’s knit in “Zara Plus” from Filatura Di Crosa/ Tahki•Stacy Charles.
