Note: The work is never turned in the set up. You just slide the stiches one bye one back on the left needle and continue -k2, kfb, slide st back to left needle- leaving any other stiches unknitted for now until there is 7 of them.
It might also come in handy to notice that “Row A” is the right side and “Row B” is the wrong side of the work.

This design is based on the fact that I like a lot of colour but really dislike weaving in ends.

It is a simple shawl in garter stitch that is knitted from left to right. It has an i-cord that goes around the whole shawl and is knitted at the same time as the shawl so no fiddling afterwards. The i-cord hides the ends so there is no need to weave them in! You can use as many or as few colours as you like, perfect for adventcalendar-yarn, those pretty leftovers or those pretty skeins of handspunn.

Yarn: Anything you like! If it is a thin yarn it is recommended to knit it held double. Your different yarn combinations need to result in about the same thickness throughout the project. The green-brown shawl featured in the pattern is knitted from 200 g (400m/100g) in 10 different colours with the yarn held double.

Needles: Whatever you need to make a garter stitched fabric that you like. For the green-brown and the yellow-blue shawls featured in the pattern 5,5 mm needles were used.

Before you start you have to decide if you want the colour change to be sharp, striped or marled? For the sharp you just change the colour. The striped is knitted with two (or more) rows in each colour and the marled is knitted with one strand of each colour held together. To marl you need to knit the whole shawl in two strands. The green-brown and the yellow-blue shawls featured in the pattern are both marled and knitted with yarn held double.

The colour changes are easiest made at the top of the shawl. I make a small knot at the beginning of the row and then hide the ends inside the i-cord to avoid weaving them in when the project is finished.
