Little black cardigans have always been a staple in my closet. This one is my new fave with its updated silhouette and details!

The cardigan is also cleverly worked in one piece – so it’s seamless! It begins by knitting the back from the shoulders down to the underarms. Short rows shape the shoulders and a simple eyelet lace design runs down the center back.

The fronts are then picked up and knit down with edge increases to create the V-neckline. A pretty cable and lace motif is worked on each front.

At the underarms, the back and fronts are joined together to form the body. The body is is then knit down to the cropped length, ending with a ribbed border.

Sleeves are picked up and knit in the round, with a little bit of the eyelet lace design from the back worked right above the cuffs. The sleeves are gathered at the cuffs for a fun, modern sleeve.

Ribbed front bands are then picked up and knit, with buttonholes created along the way. The cable and lace patterns are charted and written.
