2nd Grade Sweethearts is a comforting knit and easy to customize. The main color is a DK weight and the contrast colors are knit in Aran weight to give them more oomph against the background. This is not a necessity for your shawl, it can be knit in all one weight yarn or you can hold your yarn double for the contrast color Braids (just be sure to account for the increased yardage). Customize this shawl by adjusting the number of garter rows or adding additional braids. Try using only 1 contrast color or add as many as colors as you like, play around with it!

Gauge is not crucial for this project, but changes might result in a larger/smaller shawl which may change the amount of yarn required.
