I love the visual appeal of chunky knits, so it was an easy choice to create this chunky knit pillow to decorate my living room!

The centerpiece of this textured pillow is the wide center cable, which is simply composed of two big cable twists worked side by side. On either side of this center cable are cable waves that mirror each other. As each wave changes direction, you work a bobble, adding even more gratifying texture to this pillow.

The edges are bordered by moss stitch to complete the front. In contrast, the back of the pillow is a simple Stockinette stitch.

Sample shown was knit as separate front and back pieces, which are then sewn together along the sides and bottom. I chose to close the top with a row of single crochet, so that it is easily undone if the cover needs to be removed or washed. You can also just seam the top if you don’t wish to crochet.

Instructions included also for knitting the pillow cover in the round, which leaves only the top and bottom edges to seam.

Sampls shown in Valley Yarns Berkshire Bulky. Suggested substitutes listed above. Yarn label information: suggested gauge of 3 sts = 1” / 2.5 cm] on size 10 ½ / 6.5 mm needles.
