A modern triangular shawl that is all about texture, stripes, and color! This fun knit is designed for either worsted or fingering weight yarn, as well as an option to knit a standard sized shawl or a generously sized blanket shawl that just begs to be wrapped up in. The 800 Yard Dash is going to be a shawl you’ll want to take everywhere!

SIZES:
Two size options: Size A is a standard shawl size and size B is a blanket shawl size. Instructions are given for size A, with size B instructions in parentheses; where only 1 number is given, it applies to both sizes.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS:
Worsted: Approx 73 (96)” wingspan x 36 (46)” deep
Fingering: Approx 72 (98)” wingspan x 34 (47)” deep

NEEDLES:
• Worsted: US8 / 5 mm 40” / 100 cm or longer circular or size needed to obtain gauge
• Fingering: US6 / 4 mm 40” / 100 cm or longer circular or size needed to obtain gauge

NOTIONS: Stitch markers (4), tapestry needle

GAUGE:
Note: Gauge is not crucial for this project but please note that any changes in gauge will affect the finished measurements and amount of yarn used.
Worsted Version: 16 sts and 24 rows = 4” / 10 cm in St st, blocked
Note: Worsted Version Size B is worked using yarn held double.
Fingering Version: 20 sts and 32 rows = 4” / 10 cm in St st, blocked

YARN:
Worsted Version Size A: Plucky Knitter, Scholar (75% merino, 25% cashmere; 250 yd / 229 m per 4 oz / 115 g), 2 skeins Cassidy (MC), 1 skein Splendor (CC1), and 2 skeins Feather Duster (CC2). Approx 400 yds / 366 m of MC, 185 yds / 169 m of CC1, and 355 yds / 325 m of CC2.

Worsted Version Size B: Plucky Knitter, Groovy Baby (held double) (100% cashmere; 380 yd / 347 m per 3.5 oz / 100 g), 3 skeins Fantoosh (MC), 2 skeins Umber (CC1), and 3 skeins Loafers (CC2). Approx 995 yds / 910 m of MC, 565 yds / 517 m of CC1, and 965 yds / 883 m of CC2.
Note: If you prefer to use a single strand of worsted weight yarn instead of 2 strands of a lighter weight held double, you will need approximately half the stated yards / meters.

Fingering Version Size A: Plucky Knitter, Primo Fingering (75% merino, 20% cashmere, 5% nylon; 385 yd / 352 m per 3.5 oz / 101 g), 2 skeins Oatmeal (MC), 1 skein Small Batch No. 028 (CC1), and 1 skein Wanderlust (CC2). Approx 600 yds / 548 m of MC, 286 yds / 261 m of CC1, and 385 yds / 352 m of CC2.

Fingering Version Size B: Plucky Knitter, Groovy Baby (100% cashmere; 380 yd / 347 m per 3.5 oz / 100 g), 2 skeins Hotsy Totsy (MC), 1 skein Twill (CC1), and 2 skein Peninsula (CC2). Approx 750 yds / 685 m of MC, 370 yds / 388 m of CC1, and 745 yds / 681 m of CC2.
