A Bag to Hold Wools
The New Guide to Knitting and Crochet by Marie Jane Cooper, published by J.S. Cooper, Royal Marine Library, and Parry, Blenkarn & Co., London, 1847.
In keeping with its date of publication, there is no suggested gauge or needle size. The recommended wool for this bag is six skeins of “cruels “ (sic) in six different shades. If this means crewel wool, then a fingering weight would be appropriate. The bag is knitted as a wide piece, folded over at one side and sewn up. Two different types of ribbon are needed for the drawstring sleeves and the drawstrings.
