Do you like scarves, but are you a bit bored by the simplicity of garter stitch or rib? This scarf gives you the simplicity of working in rib patterns, all the while being just that bit more interesting. It is worked flat in an 8 row repeat of alternating a 1x1 and a 2x2 rib. Looking deceptively complicated, it’s just an easy and fun knit – and with the needle size and yarn weight used, it’s great to see it grow quickly on the needles! The scarf is fully reversible, showing off the same lovely texture pattern and cable on both sides. Use a lovely gradient or semisolid hand dyed yarn, and men, women and kids alike will love it.

Yarn: Madelinetosh Tosh Chunky (100% Merino), 151 meters / 165 yards per 100g, 4 skeins. Colorway: “Baltic”.

Needles: 5 mm / US 8 circulars, 40 cm / 16 inches, or straight needles.

Gauge: Not crucial (but gauge might affect required yardage and final size) Sample uses gauge of 16 sts & 20 rows to 10 cm / 4 inches in broken rib pattern.

Size:
Length: approximately 200 cm / 78.75 inches.
Width: approximately 30 cm / 12 inches.
