Description
This triangular shawlette is knitted sideways. It is asymmetrical as the starting tip is narrower & longer than the ending tip.
Skills required
If you know how to knit & purl, increase & decrease stitches, you can knit this.
Stitch Patterns
The Gathering Stitch pattern is alternating between ‘gathered’ Stockinette & plain Garter Stitch sections. The Gathering effect is created by 1 increase row at the beginning & 1 decrease row at the end of the Stockinette sections. The stockinette sections on this shawl are 12 rows tall.
Size
The overall size of your shawlette will depend on the yarn weight & needle size you’ll use, as well as on the length you’ll want to knit.
My sample shawl was knit with a “long colour-changing” yarn & 5 mm needles. It measures 140cm x 58cm.
For a slightly softer drape, go up a needle size.
Have at least 1 additional cake/skein of your chosen yarn on hand.

The ‘gathered’ Stockinette sections are 20 rows tall for this version & it has a slightly flared ending edge with quite a lovely drape.
