A Hug to Keep You Warm
A Hug to Keep You Warm: is a cosy baby cardigan, perfect for keeping new babies warm as the temperatures plummet. It is knit in one piece from the top down which saves you time and the hassle of sewing pieces together. It features a double selvage edge and raglan sleeves, as well as a mock button-band feature to add a sweet detail. This is a quick and easy pattern which is even suitable for a knitter in the beginning stages.
Sizes available:
0-3 months (fits chest 40cm)
3-6 months (fits chest 45cm)
6-12 months (fits chest 50cm)
Materials required:
- 4mm circular needle (60-80m length is best as the sleeves are knit in the round using the magic loop technique)
- DK/8ply yarn. Suggested yarn is Stylecraft Special DK 100g, 295m. 1 (1, 2) balls for the relevant pattern sizes.
- 2 buttons (14mm)
- 4 stitch markers
The pattern is knit in garter stitch, therefore please check your gauge in this pattern. Garter stitch over 10cm2 is 19st x 40 rows, given it knits up differently to stockinette. When checking gauge and counting rows, please remember that 1 garter row represents 2 rows; and to either count the top or bottom curves for the stitch count, not both.
