While traveling from the US to Norway, I stopped over at the airport in Reykjavik. Iceland is a beautiful, rugged country with strong knitting traditions. I only had time for a quick look out the windows, a nod so to speak. Later, as the result of a workshop, I fell in love with the Icelandic designs of the lopapeysa (Icelandic sweater). This stocking is my nod to Iceland.

This stocking is knitted in the round from the top down with a fold-over lace cuff, flap heel, star toe and i-cord hanging loop. The leg is stranded and there is a small section of stranding before the toe decrease as an accent.

Most of the stranding is knitted with just two colors at a time, though there are a few rounds that use all three colors at the same time. If you wish, you can knit those three-color rounds with just two of the colors and add the third color with duplicate stitch later.

Yarn: 1 ball each Lt. Grey Natural (Color A), Scarlet (Color B) and Navy (Color C)
