This is a basic double rib beanie/toque with optional lengths to suit your taste.

Skill level: Easy (great TV knitting!)

The pattern utilises standard K2tog, P2tog and SSK instructions.

This hat is sized so that it will fit any head between 20” - 22” (52 - 56cm) in circumference. This covers the average adult head but the double ribbing means that it is fitted enough that a child from around 10 years old can also wear it.

Gauge: standard DK weight - 21 sts x 28 rows in stockinette using 4mm/US 6 needles or size to achieve gauge.

To knit this hat, you need 3.75mm (US5) and 5mm (US8) needles. Instructions are for circular needles using the magic loop, but DPNs will work just as well.

You can use any DK weight yarn to knit this pattern. A basic guide is that you will need no more than 100g of DK weight yarn (200m/218yd) for any size that you choose to knit. The shorter size shown used approx. 140m/153yd. The longer version used approx. 180m/196yd.)

Finished hat measures 25cm/10” long in the shorter version, and 30cm/12” in the longer version.
