Attention NHL fans and Antifa members! Are you looking to cheer on your favorite team, or fight for a fairer and more just world, or just keep warm during the winter? This Gritty-inspired hat might be for you!

This is written as a very loose walk-through or tutorial. It is NOT exact, and hasn’t been tested by numerous people. It’s simply what I do to make these hats, explained to you in the best way I can. There are most likely errors. But I’ve published it to give you an idea of the process and get you going… I think once you see how the overall hat is made, you can adjust it to your own needs/skills/yarn, and go from there.

It’s a combination of knitting, crochet, and a version of rug hooking. It’s a very fast knit, and I recommend raiding your stash for the white and black yarns needed (I really swear by the Lion Brand yarn I recommend for the orange part - it takes less than one skein). It’s fun and silly. To me, it’s a pretty easy pattern, but I guess it’s probably rated an “intermediate” one.

Take this pattern, improve on it, mix it up, make it better, upload the revisions to your Ravelry and share it (if you want), have fun with it! Don’t sell it, but anything else you do to it is fair game. Like Gritty, this pattern is FREE!
