Inspired by A Walk Through Autumn Bag and the 2026 Patone Connect color palette, this design captures the warmth and depth of the season through carefully curated color play. Darlene designed this hat since the bag was so popular and because you can use your leftovers from the bag to make the hat. The sample is worked in Hikoo Simplicity, chosen for its soft hand, vibrant hues, and excellent stitch definition — ideal for showcasing the texture of the slip?stitch motif.

I knit the piece using Clover Takumi Pro circular needles. Their smooth join and tapered points make slipping stitches effortless and help maintain consistent tension throughout the pattern. Together, these materials create a fabric that feels both cozy and crisp, with colors that shift and stack beautifully across the slip?stitch texture.

Materials: 6 skeins of HiKoo Simplicity (contrasting colors); size US5 & US6 16” Clover Takumi Pro circular needle, 2 markers, tapestry needle; US6 double points for crown shaping.

Sizes: Adult Small (Adult Large). This hat is stretchy.

Finished Measurements: 18” (19”) circumference

My HiKoo Simplicity colors: A-028 (Dark Teal), B-144 (Empress Teal), C-045 (Edgy Eggplant), D-046 (Crimson), E-034 (Orange), F-048 (Hillcrest Gold)

Guage: approximately 24 sts & 36 rows =4” on larger needle

Note: You can use the leftovers from A Walk Through Autumn Bag to make this hat.
