Panama is worked top down back and forth in rows, then joined to work in the round. The most complicated part is to obtain the same tension during the whole process.

Original yarn:
4 balls of Cardiff Cashmere Brushmere 100% cashmere, 0.88oz/25g each approx 49yds/45m (164-197yds/150-180m depending on desired size).
Yardage is provided for given gauge. Use matching color scrap yarn for trimming to save some original yarn if desired.

Suggested substitute: KNOLL Soft Donegal Tweed 100% merino wool, 1.75oz/50g approx 104yds/95m, or any other yarn matching original proportions.

Needles:
US 6 (4.0 mm) – 2 pairs of circular needles 40in/100cm long - for trimming and crown;
US 6 (4.0 mm) – circular needle 16in/40cm long for brim.

Gauge: 22 sts х 40 rows = 4in/10cm over Garter stitch.
Take time to check your gauge!
