Knitting is my refuge and my relaxation. Whether I am stressed or just need a moment to myself, I pick up my knitting and soon I am in the “zone”. The rhythmic click of the needles and swoosh of the yarn transports me to a happy place where my cares slip away, and my mind begins to soar. For me, this feeling is my version of Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response, brought on by knitting. ASMR is a euphoric experience characterized by a static-like or tingling sensation that typically begins on the scalp and moves down the back of the neck and upper spine, precipitating relaxation (Wikipedia). This shawl is my knitted version of ASMR. The stitch pattern is simple and relaxing to work and the color shifts invoke the tingling euphoric feeling of ASMR. I worked my shawl with a mini-skein set of yarn, plus a full skein of a contrasting color, but this pattern would be a great way to use up small amounts of leftover yarn as well. Gauge is not critical. I used needles that were slightly larger than the recommended size for the yarn.
