Abbey in Winter is reminiscent of an Eastern European shawl. The garment features snowflake motifs created specifically for this design, slight waist shaping, faux side seams, knitted-on edging and overlapping fronts. The body is knitted in one piece, bottom up, using a provisional crochet cast on.

For our sample we used “Dark Welsh” fingering weight for the body, and “Lt Grey” fingering weight for the trim.

Our light fingering weight yarn has a generous bloom, so we were most happy with the results when we washed the yarn before knitting.
