The Abeline Pullover is a top-down colorwork sweater with autumnal & wintry motifs in the yoke. See the star flecked sky, pine trees, field of flowers, and transport your mind to a walk outside with your favorite hot drink in hand.

CONSTRUCTION

The Abeline Pullover is worked top-down in the round, beginning with a rolled purl edge at the collar. The yoke is worked in stranded colorwork using 2 colors to create the motifs. The sleeves & body are separated by placing the sleeve stitches on hold while the body is worked in stockinette stitch with a ribbed hem and tubular bind off. The sleeve stitches are placed back on the needles, worked in stockinette stitch and finished with a ribbed cuff and tubular bind off, repeating for the other sleeve.

SKILLS

This is a written pattern assuming foundational colorwork sweater knitting knowledge and is not intended to be beginner friendly. Supplemental research or practice to learn new skills may be required to complete this project.

This pattern requires a working knowledge of: knitting & purling both flat & in the round, stranded colorwork, german short row shaping, increasing, decreasing, tubular bind off.

Circular needles are used to work in the round, starting with 16” (40 cm) for the cast-on and switching to longer cable lengths as the yoke grows. The sleeves are made with the smallest cable length or preferred short circumference needles i.e DPNs or magic loop.

Cast-on, bind-off, and short row methods suggested in this pattern are able to be substituted with any other method.
