The socks are worked in the round from the top down. Instructions are given for working the socks on 4 or 5 double pointed needles. However, the pattern can easily be adapted for knitting on 2 circular needles, or on 1 circular needle, using magic loop.

The twisted stitch cab be done without a cable needle.

Abies koreana (common name Korean fir), the inspiration for this design, offers many attractive compact and dwarf cultivars, in a wide range of colours from silvery to yellow to dark green. Their cones are often quite attractive in colour and draw significant attention in our garden. We had one rather large silvery-blue coloured one a few years ago. Unfortunately, it suffered in a particularly dry summer due to drought and we lost it.
