Inspired by the orderly fields of farm and garden, this shawl combines the graphic appeal of lacy lines of yarnovers with the textural richness of cables. The knitting is simple, yet the effect is anything but. It’s a triangular shawl started at the top with an extended tab, then worked to the bottom edge. Instead of binding off, the cabled border is worked on the live stitches. The pattern is easily repeated and expanded, so if you have more yarn, keep going for a full-sized shawl. With a little adjustment, you can also insert your favorite cable into the middle.

Pattern written to produce a shawl with a 44” Wingspan and a 16” depth at center. It is easily expanded with more yarn.
