Acacia Headband
Meet the Acacia Headband, a delightfully pretty and fast-to-make accessory named after the beautiful acacia flower. This pattern features an elegant, lacy center repeat that adds a delicate touch, perfectly balanced by polished ties for a secure and seamless fit. It matches the cozy, vintage-inspired cottagecore aesthetic beautifully and is incredibly easy to adjust to any head size.
This headband is made with DK-weight yarn and a 4.5mm hook. It works beautifully with most fibers or colorways, though you may want to use something light and easy to clean (plant-based or synthetics). The design is crocheted seamlessly from the tie upward to the main body, where another tie is added to the opposite edge. Gauge isn’t a huge deal, but here is mine for reference: 18 sts and 11 rows = 4” (10 cm) in Main Body Lace Repeat (stitches between the asterisks), measured over blocked center stitches (excluding selvedge stitches).
Quick to make, this project takes about one to two hours to complete. The pattern is very customizable, with tips on how to find your perfect fit. It is recommended to try it on as you go for a good fit. It’s easy to customize by adjusting the number of rows or stitches—add more for a larger size or fewer for a smaller fit. This is a beginner-friendly pattern that includes video links for any special techniques used.
My sample is modeled on a head size of 22.5” and is about 2.5” in width at the widest part (main body) and about 17” in length (excluding ties) after blocking.
Please note that there is no exact yardage required for this pattern. The reason is that, obviously, everyone likes a different length and width, and I cannot accommodate all of that in the yardage. The same goes for the measurements; I have only included the length of my sample in the pattern. The 22.5’ size has been tested, but the custom has not.
This pattern is 5 pages long, but there are only 2 pages of actual crochet instructions. Look at the pattern photos to find a sample page of the pattern!
In places like Russia and Georgia, yellow Acacia flowers are traditionally a gift for women on International Women’s Day!
