Ace's Leg Warmers
This is the first pattern I am uploading. Please be gentle!
If you find errors please let me know so I can adjust the pattern and learn from my mistakes. Feedback is welcomed and appreciated.
I wanted a pair of chunky leg warmers with a slightly more masculine feel so I did a combination of a big cable that can be shown to the front, back, or side of the legs and filled in the rest of the space with a wasp nest pattern. I used dark denim yarn with a strand of faded denim color mixed in to add a bit of texture.
I made these leg warmers with multiple strands of finer yarn that I reclaimed from old sweaters. It is approximately equal to chunky/bulky but the gauge on 8mm needles over 1X1 ribbing is 18 rows per 4 inches. Adjust your needle size to get the gauge close. Exact gauge is not terribly important since a tiny bit looser or tighter won’t sink the project. The finished project weighs just under 250g. They fit over jeans worn by a guy who runs, so slender legs may want to decrease by one section of the “Cable 3 front, cable 3 back” portion and adjust your numbers of stitches down by 6.
