I wanted to design a hooded baby sweater that would be gender neutral and fun to knit. This little cardigan flows, incorporating interesting detail with a polished finished look. The sweater is knit from the bottom up in one piece; pockets are created along with the body as you go. Contrast color facings can be subtle, or provide a pop of color. The little elephants are worked in duplicate stitch on the pockets.

A huge thank you to DebbyAKnit, for all of your help and valuable feedback in putting together this design

12/9/13 - I have posted an updated version of this pattern with clearer instructions for making the button loops. Alternatively, button loops can be added at the end, as part of the finishing. My own preference was to devise a way to knit them in along with the facing - this way, they feel more secure, and there are fewer ends to work in at the end :o)
