The pattern for this Adult Bentie Beanie is now available for free on my blog. It doubles very nicely as a pompom hat and can be made in any possible stripe combination. It is written out for circular needles, but there are instructions for working on straight needles as well.

The pattern starts with a ribbed section and then carries on with stocking stitch, decreasing regularly after a number of rows.

I make my hats with Drops Nepal as the alpaca content makes the yarn soft enough for me to wear - I am very sensitive to itchy woollen hats - and the yarn comes in many colours and is lovely to work with. But you could use other Aran weight yarns depending on the weight and yardage.
