Adult Sized Animal Hats! This pattern makes all sorts of animal hats for grown ups. Great for a quick, no fuss costume, a gift for that special someone that has everything or a cozy something for your own fantastic noggin.

It includes directions for a unicorn, a dragon, a cat, a dog and a bear, but using these designs you can make SO many more. Think horse, mouse, fox, tiger, etc. Even a devil!

This pattern uses the Bulky (9mm) gauge knitting machine, with or without a ribber, and comes in 3 sizes:
Small (21” - Preteens & Teens)
Medium (22” - Avg. Women)
Large (23” - Avg. Men)

Directions are given for ribbing (if you have a ribber) and for hung hems (if you don’t). There are also 3 options for securing the hat: attached ties, gathered ties (through the hung hem) or a ribbed chin strap with button or snap - so you can come up with all sorts of combinations and styles.

The photos show a few of the combinations of hats that you can come up with. Not only are they fun, but they are warm - fitting close to the head and covering the ears so there is minimal heat loss.

Hat is constructed so that you sew-as-you-go. It will come off the machine with little to do but sew on the ears and other design elements. Everything is done on the machine - hat, ears, attached ties or chin strap, horns, mane - everything!

Yarn: Aran Weight (US Medium - size 4 yarn)
Gauge: 18 stitches and 24 rows = 4 inches

Notions: You will also need a button or snaps for the chin strap option. You will also need a small amount of polyurethane foam to stuff inside the horns if you are making them. (that’s the stuff like in a mattress topper or a chair pad).
