The Adventure Days is a basic DK-weight vanilla sock pattern with heel flap construction. It’s the perfect canvas to let your creativity run wild. Add some stripes, change the heel and toe colors, and choose from the various cuff and heel flap stitch patterns to create endless iterations.

Size Selection
Baby (Toddler, Child, Adult A, B, C) with finished foot circumferences of 5 (5.75, 6.5, 7.25, 8, 8.75)” / 12.5 (14.5, 16.5, 18, 20, 22) cm.
Choose a size based on 10% negative ease, rather than by age.
Finished leg length: 2.5 (2.75, 3.5, 4.75, 5.5, 6.25)” / 6.5 (7, 9, 12, 14, 16) cm, adjustable.
Finished foot length: 4.25 (6.5, 7.75, 8.5, 9.25, 10.5)” / 10.5 (16.5, 19.5, 21.5, 23.5, 26.5) cm, adjustable.
Gauge
22 sts & 34 rnds = 4 x 4” / 10 x 10 cm in stockinette stitch in the round with Needle A.
Yarn Selection Yardage
DK weight yarn in the amounts of 150 (175, 200, 250, 300, 375) yds / 137 (160, 183, 229, 274, 343) m.
Adult B size sample shown in A Knitter’s Homestead‘s DK Sock (80% SW Merino, 20% Nylon / 100g / 246 yards) in Cottage Fairy and Mulberry Pie.
Choose a sturdy nylon blend for strength, or any multi-ply DK weight for comfortable bed socks.
Needles
A - Main Fabric: US3 / 3.25 mm DPN’s, small circulars, or long circulars for magic loop.
B - Ribbing: US 2.5 / 3 mm DPN’s, small circulars, or long circulars for magic loop.
If knitting with small circulars, an additional set of DPN’s or long circulars will be required.
Needle B should achieve rib that matches Needle A in size. In 2x2 rib, this may require that you go down one more size.
Notions
1 round stitch marker, one unique marker for the BOR, tapestry needle
Construction Notes
- A popular yarn substitution is holding 2 strands of sock weight yarn together.
 - Knit top down with heel flap and gusset construction.
 - An optional contrast color may be used in the heel and toes.
 - Techniques include knitting, purling, heel flaps, short row heel turn, picking up from an edge, and decreases. This pattern is suitable for first time sock knitters.
