This little turtle is made by joining “African Flower” crochet motifs. Assemble the motifs by the “join-as-you-go” method, or sew completed units together.

Yarn requirements: 50g/220 yds fingering yarn, in three or more colors (25g/110 yds each color to be safe)

Hook size: 1.8 mm; gauge is not critical, but a firm fabric is needed to minimize holes where stuffing is visible, so adjust hook size to your yarn and tension.

Notions
• Safety eyes or mushroom/dome buttons, 7-9 mm with loop shank (unless embroidering eyes)
• Tapestry needle for attaching or embroidering eyes, weaving in ends, and (optional) sewing seams
• Stuffing material

Techniques
This pattern assumes experience with working crochet motifs in the round, and knowledge of basic crochet stitches: slip stitch, chain stitch, single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet, and back post double crochet.
