My latest design African spirit was inspired by the African culture and animals. I really enjoyed using lots of colours and I’ve specified where I changed colours, but you can either go wild or go neutral, anything will look great. There is a detailed border that’s optional to do. You can either do a blanket, wall hanging or table runner.

The download includes the full WRITTEN PATTERN and CHARTS, in separate PDFs, please check your library.

THE GIRAFFE IS A FREE DOWNLOAD WITH THIS DESIGN, SO NO NEED TO PURCHASE SEPARATELY.
I’ve added a free Flamingo design that fits perfectly with the African Spirit to your download.

A overlay Mosaic crochet pattern and with your purchase there’s 3 PDF downloads, the written pattern, the charts, and the detailed border, and this pattern uses US Terminology. With overlay mosaic crochet you need 2 different coloured yarns and alternate the colours with each row, please join my group for more information in the files section.
The download comes with the detailed border.
Here’s the starting chains for the number of repeats you would like, BUT bear in mind that the detailed border will only fit with 3 repeats!
1 repeat, chain 60.
2 repeats, chain 116. 3 repeats, chain 172. 4 repeats, chain 228.

My blanket with a size 4 hook and DK yarn measured.
Width without border 97cm/38inches, with border 107cm/42inches. Length without border 113cm/44.5inches, with border 125cm/49inches.

I used Sirdar Stories, I calculated the total amount of yarn without the border is hard to work out but approximately 2,950g.I used a size 4 hook.
For the main pattern, this is the colours of Sirdar Stories and the quantities. 140m, 153yds per 50g.
Camping green 3 balls. Spicy orange 2 balls. Sandy Toes light beige 2 balls. Iced Latte dark beige 2 balls.
Ember deep red 2 balls. Black, 8 balls. After Glow light orange 2 balls. Henna red/brown 2 balls.
For the border I used approximately 980g of Henna red/brown 3 balls, and Sandy Toes light beige, 4 balls, I also used some of the leftover colours from the main pattern for the back of my border.
