Afrodyt shawl is a two colors lace shawl with three lace sections, separated by the two “flower stripes”. Even though the original design has two colors, you can knit it with only one color, as the tow colors are not relevant for the final result.

The knitting starts form the bottom center of the shawl and proceeds to the top with stitch increases at the left/right border. The increases are made through cast-on of 12 new stitches before working the row. The shawl grows more in width than in height, resulting at the and in a pretty wide shawl of about 240 cm.

The pattern is intended for a DK yarn, however you can easily adapt it to a thinner or ticker yarn, eventually changing the number of repetitions of the lace lections.

I used two skeins of “LITLG DK” yarn. The official weight of each skein is 100 grams and about 225 meters long, but my skeins were actually about 107 grams and I used almost all the available yarn. The colors used in my sample are “Pressed Flower” (light grey, used for lace A) and “Parasol” (violet, used for lace B)
