Introducing the Agree to Disagree Washcloth—a quick, beginner-friendly knitting project that’s as practical as it is charming. Featuring only basic stitches, this pattern comes together in no time, making it perfect for new knitters or anyone in need of a satisfying, speedy make. The textured design adds just enough visual interest to keep things fun without complicating the process. Whether you’re building your skills or whipping up a thoughtful handmade gift, this washcloth is a simple pleasure that lives up to its name: easy to make, even if your stitches don’t always agree.

This beginner-friendly pattern is worked with worsted or aran weight yarn and 5mm (US 8) needles—but you’re more than welcome to use any yarn and needle combo you prefer! The pattern is nice and simple, based on a stitch multiple of 6+5, which makes it easy to customize. I’ve shared the instructions for the exact size I made, but feel free to play around with different gauges and stitch counts to suit your preference.

You’ll begin with a basic cast-on and a few rows of garter stitch to give the piece a sturdy base. From there, you’ll move into a calming, repetitive stitch pattern made entirely with knit and purl stitches. For a clean, polished finish, the edge stitches are slipped and knit through the back loop. This is worked flat, meaning you turn your work after each row.

When you reach your desired length, you’ll finish with a few more garter rows to mirror the start, then bind off and start another if you’d like. These are quick, enjoyable, and easy to make in multiples.

The pattern includes labeled right and wrong sides, though the “wrong” side simply features a different texture and still looks great. I’ve included photos of both so you can decide which side you prefer.

The final result is a stylishly textured, practical washcloth that looks more complex than it is. It’s an ideal project for beginners or anyone craving a relaxing knit. Best of all, it’s fast—you can finish one in about an hour. To help along the way, I’ve also included video tutorials for any special techniques, so you’ll have support at every step.
