This kerchief is constructed by first knitting a triangle in a basketweave stitch. Then a crocheted edge is added and finished off with a simple cross stitch pattern.

This pattern would work with almost any yarn and the effect of using different fibres, colors, and embroidery patterns would be so interesting. I have included drawings of the shawl without the embroidery pattern so that you can experiment and create your own cross stitch or other embroidery pattern.
