DETAILS
One of my favorite activities is beach combing with my husband. Åkrasanden is a beautiful beach in the Norwegian town where my husband’s family is from. While we were making plans to travel there, I was inspired by the undulating pattern of Åkrasanden beach and designed this cowl.

This unisex fully reversible pattern knits up quickly on a large gauge and is easy to customize for an entire family! I designed and knitted 3 cowls in 4 days! The finished cowls feel cozy and look great on adults and children! Have fun with yarn and motif play!

TWO CONSTRUCTION METHODS FOR YOUR PREFERENCES
1. Knit it flat (one-color only) with no purling then seam it. This is an easy option for knitters that prefer not to purl but don’t mind seaming! One solid color will speak to wearer preferences of an understated and modern aesthetic with a capsule wardrobe.

2. Knit it in the round with purling and no seaming; in one-color, two-colors, or multi-colors. This is a great option for knitters that prefer to knit in the round and don’t mind purling. And wearers who enjoy bold color plays and statement pieces.

GAUGE: 4 stitches per inch for a super quick knit!

SUGGESTED NEEDLES
Circular needle: 16”/40cm
Suggested size: US 10/6mm
Or your preferred needle size to meet gauge and preferred cord length for your knitting comfort

Optional crochet hook:
In the same size as circular needle for crochet slip stitch seam if you choose to knit it flat.
Suggested size: Hook J/6mm
Or, if you prefer not to use a crochet hook then seam it anyway you like.

SUGGESTIONS FOR YARN SUBSTITUTION
If using multiple strands of lighter weight yarn, please ensure you meet gauge and have the total yarn estimate needed for your size.

Example: To knit Size Snug in One-Color requires 200yds/182m of single strand bulky weight yarn. If you meet gauge by holding 4 strands of lighter weight yarn together, then you will need a total of 800yds/728m of yarn.
