The Akron Cowl is an adaptation of the Akron Wrap and was created in collaboration with Bewitched Pigments using their new yarn line, Charmed. The yarn used will be available in person on November 11th at the Indie Knit and Spin in Pittsburgh, PA, so if you’re planning to be near Pittsburgh, go to the event to check out this cowl and the Bewitched Pigments yarn!

This cowl is adjustable in size, and is knit flat, from side to side, starting with a provisional cast on and finishing with the ends being grafted together. The design utilizes two colors, and moves between seed stitch, stockinette, and lace. The shifting textures and colors make for an interesting, but not overly-complicated knit.

Finished Measurements:

  • Circumference - 34”, Height - 12”

Important Notes:

  • While most of the pattern is written, the lace portion of the pattern is provided in both written and charted form.
  • If you prefer not to use a provisional cast on, you may use a normal cast on and seam your ends together using the method of your choice, but the area where your ends are joined together may be more noticeable than with the provisional cast on and grafting.

Yarn:

  • This pattern requires two colors of yarn in the following amounts: 223 total yards: 120 of Main Color, and 103 yards of Contrasting Color.
  • The pictured sample was Knit using Bewitched Pigments Charmed in the following colorways: Cancer (Main Color), and Hyacinth (Contrasting Color)
