Introducing the Alderson Tea Cozy Set, a 1930s tea pot and egg cozy inspired by the series All Creatures Great and Small!

The tea cozy fair isle motif replicates a sweater stitch pattern worn by one of the principle characters from the show, Helen Alderson. Even if you haven’t watched the series yet, the Alderson Tea Cozy Set is an excellent example of the 1930s cozy knitting craze stirring up, especially in Great Britain and Australia!

The tea cozy is lined, and while there are instructions to follow what I did with the sample knit, the world is your oyster! This tea cozy is reversible, so you could create an intricate design for the inside as well and change them out when you want. There are parts of the knit that you’ll need to pay close attention to as well, like the provisional cast on and short rows towards the end. The two layers are joined together at the cast on edge with a three needle bind off, which is so satisfying to do. It leaves a gorgeous, clean finished and seamless edge!

I want to thank Ros Little, the costume designer for All Creatures Great and Small, as well as the costume warehouse Cos Prop (who owns the original jumper/costume) for granting permission to let me recreate this fair isle motif for you all. Thank you!
