WARNING!! Do not let your friends and family see your Aldolpho. You will not be able to knit anything else until they all have one.

Inspiration for Aldolpho comes from Debi van Zyl’s Beast Pillows.

Construction: Beginning with a provisional cast-on, Aldolpho’s body is knitted in the round from bottom, continuing up through the eye pods, and grafted at the top. Optional pocket is knitted in. Mouth and eyes are embroidered. Legs are worked down from initial cast-on. Arms are worked separately and stitched on.

Finished size of main pillow: 16” square, or 10.5” wide x 13.5” tall for mini Aldolpho. (Pattern includes instructions for both.)

Yarn: 2 strands held together of Sunday Knits 3 ply yarns (light sport weight - double stranded yields 123 yds / 112 m
per 50g skein).

This is a great project for using up your leftovers! Samples shown used a combination of worsted weight yarns and double strands of sport weight yarns.

Substitute any worsted weight woolen yarn that makes a fairly firm fabric when worked to gauge, and that will felt a bit if encouraged:
Main body color - 270 (150) yds,
Four gradient body colors - 45 (25) yds each,
Arm color - 100 (90) yds,
Two leg stripe colors - 50 (45) yds each,
Wrist and pocket color - 40 yds,
Foot & mouth color - 30 yds,
Eye color - 10 yds.

Needles & Notions: Needles size 6 US (5.5 mm) circular and optional straight needles; tapestry needle.

Gauge: 18 sts and 28 rows = 4” in stockinette stitch.

Techniques used: Knitting both in the round and back and forth, M1, joining colors, grafting, mattress stitch; embroidery stitches: duplicate stitch, back stitch.

Pattern includes: Written instructions, diagram, glossary.
