I found a vintage pattern (circa 1960) in my sister’s stash for a baby’s matinee jacket. i hadn’t seen the pattern before and my sister couldn’t remember where it came from. To add to the mystery, on the back of the pattern the name Alice was handwritten in large letters - hence the name Alice Matinee jacket

It’s a lovely design but as I haven’t got any babies to knit for, decided to alter the pattern for Baby Annabell Doll and include a dress, bonnet and booties. The pattern would also fit a premature baby.

As its an old fashioned pattern, the jacket is knit in separate pieces from hem up then joined to complete the yoke. The dress is knit in 2 pieces and joined for the yoke. The skirt is in a simple 4 row pattern, the yoke in stocking stitch. There are only 2 seams to sew from the sleeve cuff to the hem.

100g dk is enough to knit the jacket, bonnet and booties.
